Are you looking for a book to read, but can't find a GOOD story? Do you like to read about students who are in high school and who are perhaps going through some of those same daily trials and tribulations that you are, but can't find stories in the library catalog?
Here's a tip: in the library catalog, from the opening dropdown menu, change your search from 'Title Browse' to 'Subject Browse'. Then type in the search term box: High Schools - fiction. Be certain to use the plural 'schools' or you won't find anything!
Your results should show over 200 titles in that subject category. Click on the list to see all the titles, then click on any titles that look interesting to you to find a full description of the book. You might want to also check the other subject categories listed to find more titles.
Hope this helps you to find a good story to read, either for a class or for your own enjoyment. If you need any more help in finding books, just stop by the Library and speak to one of the Librarians. We can help!

I Love you, Beth Cooper by: Larry Doyle
This book is about the nerd of all nerds saying he is in love with the most popular girl in the school in front of everybody. When he says this things happen and problems occur with the popular girl's boyfriend. I liked this book a lot because it kept me interested in the book the entire time. This is the funniest book I have ever read. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to laugh.

The Firm by John Grisham is a great book if you enjoy an author who develops outstanding characters, rich detailed descriptions, and a thrilling plot line that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Grisham is famous for novels like this one that revolve around lawyers and include elements of suspense and romance.
The Firm is a story about Mitch McDeere who recently graduated near the top of his class at Harvard Law School. Mitch received many job offers from major law firms but was ultimately wooed to a small, elite firm based in Memphis. Having made it through law school, living on a meager budget, Mitch is ecstatic over his huge starting salary, signing bonus, new home, and a brand new company car. The partners of the firm knew what it will take to recruit Mitch to their firm and made him an offer he could not refuse. “Eighty thousand, first year, plus bonuses. Eighty five, second year, plus bonuses. Eighty thousand, babe. Eighty thousand bucks in Memphis Tennessee is about the same as a hundred and twenty thousand in New York.” When Mitch and his wife Abby move into their new home, everything seems too good to be true.
For a while, everything is pleasant in Memphis with Mitch working very hard at the firm and is studying to pass his bar exams. His long hours begin to take a toll on him and his lonely wife. “Of course, he’s here sixteen hours a day going through the workaholic rookie counselor routine that you guys instill.” Mitch is very well thought of and begins working closely with one of the firm’s top lawyers. At this point, the story takes an important turn when two of Mitch’s associates turn up dead. The deaths begin to make Mitch suspicious and as he snoops around he realizes that their deaths could not be a coincidence. “The great Bendini firm is solid. The leaks have been plugged. It’s business as usual. No problems.” About that same time, Mitch is secretly contacted by a FBI agent who informs him that the law firm he is working for is associated with the Mafia. Grisham’s powerful writing style stuns the reader with this news and a roller coaster ride of events unfold as Mitch tries to escape the Mafia.
Now Mitch finds himself trapped in his “dream job” and learns that the Mafia, who runs the firm, will stop at nothing to ensure their operations are not interrupted. Mitch quickly realizes that his office, house, and even his car have been bugged and he struggles to find a way out of his predicament. A wire, the thickness of a human hair, was gently fitted into the seam of the paneling and run to the ceiling. It would connect to a receiver in the attic. Mitch began to trust the FBI agent who approached him, but soon after, he grows suspicious and feels that he can not trust anyone.
At this point, Grisham has carefully laid the ground work for a plot that highlights a classic battle of good vs. evil. In addition, he fully exposes the true characteristics of the main character Mitch McDeere and skillfully uses his supporting characters to refine the reader’s view of who Mitch is and how he will react in certain situations. It is through all this that Mitch realizes he can trust only his family and must utilize all of his resources to free himself safely from the Mafia.
Mitch’s “do or die” final plan includes both his brother Ray and he wife Abby. With their assistance, Mitch must gather enough evidence against the partners of the firm, so the FBI can convict them. “Terms, Mitch. What we give you in return for what you give us. We want the Morolto family, and you can deliver. You name your price, and this government, working through the FBI, will deliver.” In addition, he realizes that he must get enough money in return so he can successfully disappear with his wife and brother or they will be killed by the Mafia. Mitch actually tricks the firm into committing mail fraud while he secretly double crosses the FBI and steals $10 million from some of the firm’s overseas bank accounts.
The heart pounding ending to this story is a real thriller and Grisham expertly leads the reader on the chase of a lifetime. After Mitch takes on the “Goliath like” law firm and the FBI, essentially by himself, he not only survives but actually thrives. Grisham rewards the reader with an amazing ending which shows Mitch, his wife and brother on a beach somewhere nice and warm enjoying their well earned fortune. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for a classic John Grisham legal thriller with a spectacular ending.
