2009 in Review!
2009 was a PACKED year for the BHS Library! Last Spring we had over 700 students attend our Poetry Cafe to listen to our amazingly talented students and faculty. We showcased our new books for the faculty during our Snacks in the Stacks, and over the summer, our doors were bursting with our activity. Our library supported both summer sessions of summer school as well as sponsored classes for teachers. Over 90 teachers throughout the district dove into reading with our Lincoln High School Award Nominated books. This fall we worked with the Freshman Advisories and had the opportunity of meeting this class of 700 plus students over 4 times as we introduced them to our library and the district's information literacy assessment. We had scary stories in the library on Halloween and our talented high school writers once again astonished us with their talent. Once again over 700 students filled our library to listen to these original stories and some favorite classics. Our "Read it Forward" program with Chris Crutcher books allowed students to take a book, read it, and then give it to a friend to read, and then to give to a friend. Several English classes read Chris Crutcher books, our talented BHS TV studio created a promotional video for this program that can be found on YouTube and SchoolTube and we filled our auditorium for Chris's visit to Barrington High School! What a way to end 2009! Thank you to all the teachers, students, and to the Barrington Public Library for all of your support! 2010 promises to be even better!
